Look Under the Bridges for the Light

This is one of the incredible, beautiful murals that exist under the 580 freeway bridges in Oakland.  The project is called the Oakland Superheroes Mural Project and each mural is dreamed up, designed, and painted by the Attitudinal Healing Conection, local artists, and local middle and high school students in Oakland.  They are so beautiful, and each one tells a story that is inspired by the visions of Oakland's youth.  This one is on San Pablo Ave.
The goal of the project is to paint 6 murals in three years on freeway underpasses along the 580 freeway in West Oakland.  This is mural #2. The third mural is already starting to go up on west street, but very sadly,  one of the main artists,  Antonio Ramos, was killed as he worked on the mural, just a few days ago.  This is a tragedy, and sadly, one of the many tragic shootings that end bright young lives in this area.  Exactly what this mural project was working against.  Rest in peace and power Antonio, and may your art and legacy live on in the youth who you inspired.
Check out the indegogo funding page for the mural, indegogo.com/projects/oakland-superheroes-mural-project#/story and also see a link to the crowd funding page to cover Antonio's funeral costs there.
