Little Thai Heaven

I took part in an iconic Berkeley activity the other day, I went to Thai Brunch. This is an event that takes place at the Thai Buddhist temple in Berkeley, where the community prepares Thai food and exchanges it for tokens all morning on Sundays. Not exactly sure of the story, but they can't take money directly. Fortunately, you can donate money and receive these tokens, which you can then exchange for yummy Thai food. Then you can sit at all the communal tables they set up and eat with the community. I saw that they are fundraising to build a big parking lot behind the temple. Not sure where all the people will sit to eat then, but I'm sure it'll work out. The day I arrived, there was a full gamelan orchestra playing and a singer. There were also some children in costume, abs these gorgeous carved melons as well as many monks about the place.
