This is a really incredible mural which I watched go up over the course of months. Looking at it now, you can see why it took so long, it's incredibly detailed! It tells the story of the South Berkeley community from when the Oholone lived sustainably on the land, up to the present. The main artist on the mural was Edythe Boone, but clearly she had lots of help.As I was admiring the mural, a man walked by and showed me where he is painted into the piece! It's clearly a very community centered work of art. I also love how it names and features the local small business and the neighborhood institutions like Ed Roberts Campus and the library. It also highlights local history like the Japanese internment, the fair housing act, disability activism, and the Black Panthers.
